Stupid Rat Pack Question

Ok, this has been driving me up the wall since I had a conversation about it earlier tonight. I know that the Rat Pack consisted of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and The Other Guy. So, my question to you is Who the heck is The Other Guy?

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

Actually, I think there were 2 other people in the Rat Pack?!  Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody... but Wasn't Peter Lawford a part of The Pack as well?

Also you all forgot that the Rat Pack was started by Humphrey Bogart.

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

I believe Lauren Bacall gave them the moniker- something about how they all looked like a bunch of drowned rats.

But then, I could be wrong

You could be, but you're not.  Though I can't recall if "drowned" was part of the quote....

I was getting ready to reply to this, but then I saw that it said "Rat Pack," not "Pack Rat"...oops...so I'll reply anyway.

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

Okay...so mom tells me y'all forgot one Rat Pack member...Peter Lawford.

So, there we go...the whole Rat Pack: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

The above individuals, however, should NOT be confused with a group of '80s film stars under the title of Brat Pack. wink

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

Another trivia question. Which writer wished that he was Bogart?
hint: most of us had to read some of his books in school.

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

I have now done my fact checking and found that Bacall did not call them "drowned". Another, more descriptive perjorative was used.
But also found that Judy Garland was an early member during the Bogart reign. It is beginning to appear that the common denominator for all Pack members was overindulgence in, well, everything. But they did it with such style!

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

I do beleive that they had many people float in an out. Along with a few women like Angie Dickenson and Shirley McClaine.

Has anyone heard the latest Hollywood scoop of a brand new "Rat Pack"? I have heard many variations on this story but the leader is always the same. Apparently Sean Puffy Combs has been trying to get together a group of wild and crazy guys to run amuck the streets of Las Vegas, LA and where ever else. P. Diddy himself, has been deemed the new Frank Sinatra while his young pal Ashton Krutcher has been named the new Dino, even though he doesn't sing. I heard recently that Justin Timberlake was also a part of this randy group.

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

ACK!!! The idea of a "new" Rat Pack is slap in the face to the true Rat Pack. And anyone who "raps" or whatever should not even be allowed to say the words "Rat Pack". The thought of Puffy-Diddy-doo-doo or any other typical cookie cutter MTVish person trying to touch the legends of Frank, Dean,Sammy,Joey...and even Peter...is typical mainstream flash-in-the-pan "do what's cool at the moment" nonsense.
Those pop rapping doo-dahs should be embarassed!!!!

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask...

In this case, it's the literal truth.  The answers have been quite educational.

Wow, no one took a shot at guessing. It was Albert Camus.

Re: Stupid Rat Pack Question

I still cannot beleive "Puffy-didly-doo","Aston so and so", and "Justin who-ha" think they could re-invent Frank and Dean's Rat Pack. I hope they get zero attention for their efforts.
