LEMON CITY

What was the worst vehicle of transportation you ever owned :?:  :?:  I am talking about a car or truck that was an outright stinkpot. For the record, I never have **owned a car or truck but hope I will** someday soon.

Re: LEMON CITY

Shouldn't this be under Blacktop Rockets?  Anyhoo, the very worst vehicle I ever owned was a brand spanking new 1999 Ford F-550 Superduty with the 7.3L Navistar Diesel and the automatic transmission with pto which I ordered especially for my business.  I would rather drive a Yugo, it would be more dependable.

Within the first 15,000 miles I had to replace the injectors.  Within the first 20,000 miles the sway bar fell off the truck.  FELL OFF!  Within the first 100,000 miles I replaced the sway bar, the axle it came on twice, the entire brake assembly including calipers, the entire engine, rebuilt the transmission, several brake rotors (because we couldn't tell when we passed through the pads, it made no sound and didn't make any difference in the pedal, it just had a slight gggrrrr when you braked) and replaced the break pads 7 times.  My Chevys did much better and I drove them for 300,000 miles each.

I hate Fords.  The only one I would consider is a new T-bird.  I have always loved T-birds.  Now if only they were smart and offered a Lincoln version of the T-bird like they did in the early 60's.  Boy howdy!!  Whoof!!

A 1980 Datsun. In the litter of reliability pups, this child--wasn't right. Every small dohickey that could break or split did, and the clutch must have been faced with Chinet. Hated the damn thing.

A 1982 Chrysler LeBaron.  I am a skeptic of the highest order and tend to laugh at paranormal phenomena, but I am convinced this car was possessed and had it in for me.  I drove it for about two years and had more problems in that time than in all the rest of my driving years (many) put together.

Re: LEMON CITY

My first car.  A 72 Dodge Dart Swinger.  Normally the Darts are great cars, but I got duped.  The night I drove it home I pulled into a cul-de-sac to see a friend.  When I tried to back out I found out that the car didn't go in reverse.  Something the seller neglected to mention to me.

Then a few weeks later, the right front end suspension went out completely, most likely the bushings now that I think about it.

I think I paid $400 for that car.  You get what you pay for I guess.  I didn't have the money to fix it so I sold it to my buddy for $1 just to wash my hands of it.  I don't think he ever paid me.
