I think the later Sinatra stuff was not good. His frasing seemed contrived and insincere as did his whole persona. Earlier in his career he had a nice straight forward style that was very pleasent but latter everything about him seamed phoney.

Evidently back in '38 someone else thought the same thing:





But you have to admit, even when he was bad, he was good in other ways that we will never know or hear of directly:

"Shortly after the show, Sinatra read an article in the local newspaper about a man with four kids who had lost his job at Hoover Dam. The man didn’t know where to turn for help as he was facing the loss of his car and foreclosure )mortgage. He had gone to the local newspaper as his last resort for help.

Sinatra immediately told someone in his organizatin to find out where the man lived and to sends him and his family a personal check in the amount of $5,000, a great deal of money in 1957...."
