Re: Pet Names

Pansy Pooper - German Shepherd (my sister named him cuz he, well...)

Charlie-The-Flyer - parakeet with clipped wings.  (I was very young, ok?)

Ladybug - Pretty, blonde mutt with long eyelashes.  And she knew how to use 'em.  A tad slutty, that one.

Tom Cat - I picked him out and named him.  A family favorite

Judy - a Russion Blue, and a girl.  (We made a mistrake.)

Gregory Peck - parakeet.  Get it? Ha!

Dudley Do-right - Doberman, afraid of cats and had unspeakable gas.

Spike & Dot - black cat brothers

Stanley - tabby

Current varmints:

Lucy and Vivian  (yes, Lucy has red hair.)

Yay for the gray!!!!!

I am such a sucker for little gray cats.  They look so darn cute when they're sleeping!
I had one named Mer. I loved him; he was a sweetie. And so handsome! His sister, Tiro, was a tiger: cream, taupe, black and charcoal. They were half Siamese, and she had the long, slinky body and tail. Gorgeous. Kinda dumb, though.

Re: Pet Names

I had my cat from 1985-2002!!!  He was a scrapper.  Got into fights with anything.  Mister was his name.  Mister was originally known as Missy.  My family and I aren't the brightest!! roll   I liked adding different names to his-Mr. Kitty, Mr. Doodles, Mr. Poopikins...
I have 2 cats that I adopted from the Humane Society after Mister Kitty.  The one cat's name was Asia(the cat has never been to Asia, and I have no intentions of taking her. I'd just as soon called her North America!)  I re-named her Tiki! A MUCH cooler name!  The other girl's name was Elsie.  This was from the original owner who dumped her and apparently didn't care about her, so we didn't need that dumb name.  I named her Tinsel.  I also have an obese cat-20+pounds-called Tubby.  That's short for Tub-A-Lub-A-Ding-Dong.  And I have a miniature Schnauzer named Nutty Buddy.

Re: Pet Names

My older cat is all black and sleek, part Siamese, and her name is Storm. Yes, from the X-Men comics...

The baby is very fancy. She is also part Siamese, but has the traditional coloring and long hair. She is officially named Rogue. Yes, from the X-Men comics...  But she has many names:

Puff/Puffin/Princess Puff
Pierogie
Piewacket
Fancy Cat
Baby

Storm is just too regal and aloof: she'd never put up with any nonsense.

I'm too transient to own a pet. And starving artist literally means, starving artist sometimes.

My little boy (English Springer Spaniel) is named Gromit.
My exhusband's nickname for me was his "gromit"

Yes, this is one of a million reasons I dumped his sorry ass!  lol

I name all my pets after artists I admire. I went to college for art but still ended up nursing, because there just was not enough money to make a living in art once I became a single mother!

After having a zoo, I am down to one pet, named Frida. (After, you guessed it, Frida Kahlo).

I used to have a beagle named Pablo (Picasso) and a little austrailian shepard mix named Salvidor Doggy. But they are long since departed for the big doggybed in the sky!

Re: Pet Names

Our animals never get just one name, it's like a disease.

Max the cat:  Max, Max-a-Mooze, the King of Kabul, Kabul, Mister Mooze, The Mooze and (officially, believe it or not) the Baron Maxwell von Richtofen (yes, really, not Manfred).

Lilah the cat: Liloaf, Meatloaf, Princess Fat, Pierogi Thief, Pelt-who-walks, F.B.C. (Fat Black Cat), F.TX.C. (Fat Tuxedo Cat).

Sunny the dog: Sunbone, Fuzzbutt, Mister Sir, Sir, Goathead, Sunbacca, Grey Dog.

Poppy the dog (RIP):  Poppy grrl, The Girl, Pretty Girl, Popbacca, Black Dog.

Big Ben the rat is really only known as "Ben" and "BtR" (Ben the Rat, to distinguish him from BtRM, Ben the roommate, my brother's roommate at U of M).

Re: Pet Names

I've always believed that a cat has two names. The first is the name you give it when you first get it. The second (I call it the "Cat Name") is the name you give it after you've had it for a while and you see it's personality develope.

I totally agree with this. This has been the case for every pet I have ever owned.

Re: Pet Names

We have a betta named "Purple" (he's red with blue fins, so overall, he's a purple color)- Jayson named him.  A few weeks ago, Purple got some new bowl-mates, two wild minnows named "Whitey" and "Stripey" (they were the sole survivors of a bucket of fishing bait).  We thought he would eat them, but they all seem to get along!
