Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

Yep, it's from Pittsburgh, but Old German originated at a Maryland brewery, made its way through Yuengling, and finally Iron City ended up with it. I like Yuengling Lager for cooking, Rolling Rock is preferable for straight imbibing perhaps, but I would like to give Iron City a try. Unfortunately, it is not easily found outside of western PA. The original can was quite nostalgic, had a portrait of an old German gentleman with muttonchops and a vest, kind of Ansel Adams.

Oh, and should we be congratulating you Susie, or is my math imagination just running amok on me?

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

Today I started packing for my first vacation in a looooong time. The Mister and I are headed down to Texas to visit him family for a while. It'll be my first time meeting all of them (except for my father-in-law, and one of the three sisters). I'm a bit nervous!

Got my drier vent suctioned out. Major operation. Planning on going to the Green Mill tonight, but won't sit at Al Capone's table.

Got together with some other moms and made gingerbread houses. It looked great til my son started eating the fence (pretzel sticks and frosting)!

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

We went to our new flat to let the decorators in. I had a go at stripping the cast-iron fire surround of paint but failed. I'll buy a hot-air gun and try again next time we're over there. What sort of person would paint a fire surround anyway?

Went to the gym then made a bunch of phone calls. Now that the holidays are over it's back to business as usual. Sometimes my life just seems so boring. *yawn*

I made ration sandwiches out of soybeans, carrots and mayo. Yes, they were exactly as boring as they sound.

Thank you! She's almost two weeks old now, and we're still adjusting to having her in our family. Sleep is a precious thing!

She is named after my husband's grandmother Lillian, and my mother Su. A good southern name - Lily Su!

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

Labor was relatively quick (just under 9 hours), and intense. Glad I don't have to do that again!! She is already starting to do 4 hours of sleep at a time, so I know more is on the horizon for me.

Hubby goes back to work tomorrow and I'm nervous about being completely on my own with her.

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

Congrats to you both, GG!

Don't worry about a thing - you'll all do just fine. It's normal to be nervous, but remember - people have been having babies for years now, and you're a smart cookie who'll figure it all out.

By the way, when you do figure it all out, let me know... I've got a 13 year old, a two 1/2 year old, and one on the way (a bit of a surprise, that one). I still am figuring it all out.

Cheers to all Y'all!

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

What I need to figure out now is how to get her to sleep *at night*. She didn't want to do it when she was in my belly - earning her the nickname Party Girl. But last night was terrible. Up from midnight to 5 a.m. with her.... ugh. I need coffee, and I don't drink the stuff!

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

LOL- I went through that with both. Try to keep the room dark & quiet at night, even if she is awake. And let in lots of light and sound in the day when she's sleepy and the tide will start to turn.

Re: What have you done today? (or recently)??

Hmm. Today I woke up and got ready for work. Dragged a razor across my face and dome. Bundled up for the snow and sleet, which was hard after four days of 60 degrees. Came home and I am cooking dinner. Grilled chicken, spiced potatoes and stuffing.
