Special Tribute to The Maltese Falcon On The Fedora Chronicl

The Fedora Chronicles staff is working on a special project - A time capsul for "The Maltese Falcon" with fan-memories: what the novel and the movie means to the fans in 2005.

This month the Novel “The Matese Falcon” is 75 years old. To commemorate this event we’re asking folks to write short essays on their “Maltese Falcon” memories. No particular length… and it doesn’t just have to be just about the book or the motion picture staring Humphrey Bogart and directed by John Huston. Any memory about the story, your personal persuit of getting a verson of the famous prop, an special memory of an event… even a specuation about the meanings and the metephors in the story. We will even except artwork sent into us to letters@thefedorachronicles.com.

We would also encourage folks how haven’t seen the movie, go out and get a copy and let us know what you think. We’ll post each essay, article or artwork as they are submited, and would encourage everyone to do so before the end of the month, February 28th, 2005.

Finally, on this speical tribute page to The Fedora Chronicles we want to host links to groups dedicated to the work of  Dashiell Hammett... if you know any groups that should be added, please let us know.

In the years to come when folks celebrate the "80th Annaversery” (And 85th, 90th… 100th and so on…) we want to have something saved and archived so folks can come back and see what folks had to say about The Maltese Falcon in this period in history.

And Eddie Mullen gave us permision to repost his essay that was originally published in The San Fran Chronicle: It's a Noir World - Why Bogart made 'The Maltese Falcon' what it is.
