Tattoos

I know this is not very retro, but had to share my new Tatt...I designed it and think it turned out rather well!

Re: Tattoos

Thanks&#33; I love that the colors represent earth, water and fire.
The only issue I have with it that i may have adjusted is that the flowers are free floating, and that looks odd to me, but no one else seems to notice   What do you think??
going to have a lady bug added to the top too smile

  lol  I am confused  lol

no I mean I am going to add a lady bug at the top...

BUT was wondering if ya think I should add a tiny stem so the one flower does not seem floating?

Re: Tattoos

I didn&#39;t notice it until you brought it up but I think you may be right.

Is that a dragon fly at the bottom? (Forgive me, it&#39;s early)

Re: Tattoos

yes it is, and of course you are forgiven  wink

I think I shall call the artist today, as she gave me her home phone and ask how much ? If I have to pay the min. price, I may just wait until I can afford to have the lady bug added and make sure I get a good value for my time....hate to pay so much for a tiny itty bitty twig  tongue

Thanks for your feedback&#33;

Re: Tattoos

thats awesome&#33;&#33;&#33; Oh my I love it&#33;&#33; Yes there was a thread, but hey others revive threads  smile  tongue

so what do you think? Add the stem to attach flowers, and a lady bug??

I have one that I think I will get covered over and done to co-ordenate with the new one...it is of the eye of horus and an ahnk and it is rather rude in looks and all my others are very pretty and ornate ...so thinking of a pretty little humming bird...small , but will do the job.....then maybe someday another flower over on other shoulder for the hummer to enjoy lol

Re: Tattoos

heh.. I am a thread reviver, too... when I&#39;m not killing threads.  Thanks for the kind compliments on my ink.  I worried what I should get for my first  for 10 years, before I decided what should be the first.  If only I had been so selective in my  relationships.

The free flowers don&#39;t bother me a bit - my mind assumes hidden stems - BUT you need to be happy in your skin, so if you won&#39;t feel righ tuntil those flowers have anchors, then you should get them done.

I agree about the Horus eye and Ankh - I really prefer tattoos on a single body that somehow seem to go together, one way or another.  If they are ind of crude or just too diff.  they will stand out, and maybe not in a pleasantly comparable way.Now then - how big a (lady)bug are talking?   That would make a dif.,

I intend to get some old sailor style sparrows/swallows in color on my chest/shoulders... and I may add some white to Lulu&#39;s eys and the "shine" on her lip.  I need to work up some designs that will "hang together" so to speak.  whatcha think?

Watch out for that white ink. It tends to yellow a bit with age. But it should still stay paler than your skin.

Re: Tattoos

hehehehe, me and a few of us on here had what we called the Pink Flamingo Thread killers cause it seemed whenever we started chatting on a thread it died   lol  Welcome fellow mingo&#33;&#33;  tongue

Yeah decision seems to be split, to float or not LOL , I think that I shall get them anchored, dunno how artist will feel, but she is cool so...its hard cause she is new to me and vise versa...had to leave my artist in CA and there is sooo many here in texas, and everyone says something different about all the shops.....anyways, yep, once I have the green i think I shall go get that tiny brown stem LOL  Now the lady bug would be life size , so tiny&#33;&#33;&#33; Just a tiny touch at the top so when I am wearing a high colar shirt and all you see is two tiny twigs stickin gout, there is something to it  smile
Thanks for the imput...yeah mine are hit and miss, but they all have red in them hehehehehe.....but the one on my shoulder, as I said just is "ok" and although it is cool and all , it just does not flow. So I think a bird and a flower is the way to go.

I have an ornate cross on lower back, the holy trinity ringed in flowers on my ankle and a forked tail moon with red gems and stars colored to look like my kids birthstones on my belly, all very girly and ornate, and so thought that I would just perhaps someday get the one on my shoulder "transfered" and dolled up ......but yep , as it stands it does not belong.

Now as for high lights and glisten...maybe not white, as it does yellow, but if your artist truely has skill, perhaps a silvery color, not white, but not black...ala black and white movies  wink Although she is so perfect the way she is....dunno I being whom I am would add red to her lip, but that is me...BUT on you, I like how it is ...so weigh carefully prior to the change.

I LOVE old school and was tempted to go that route, and my kids may go that route dunno, but it just did not seem to fit my body to do so...it took me many years since the last to decide...i get very OCD about my ink, CAN YA TELL????

hey what part of Texas are you in??

Re: Tattoos

thanks for the advice on the whiteLS and RR - my guy here in town - the Mighty Pat Casey- is VERY good (easily the best for miles around - we&#39;re lucky), so he should be able to work something up. As RR suggests, I may keep it as is, with maybe a little once-over for the hair.  It has good coverage now with the second app. but might could stand a wee bit more.  I thought about red lips, but went with the strict black, obviously.

RetroRuby - check my location tongue .. I&#39;m in Nacogdoches (a Spanish version of a Caddo Indian place name - Natchitoches, La is a town named the French version of the same word) about 2 - 2 1/2 hours North of you, straight up on hwy 59.  No Caddos here now, but a few of their mounds are left;.  Nac has the distinction of being (arguably) the "Oldest Town in Texas", and of being mentioned in (I think) three John Wayne movies,  He liked the sound of it.   You SHOULD go to Austin sometime, it&#39;s supercool, and a second home to me.  I can give you some places to hit and things to do whenever you go.  Hey - it&#39;s only a couple of hours west of you.

Used to live in H-town, too.  Like the sites, hate the roads (constant, constant construction - for many years).

Re: Tattoos

This is my baby:

<div class='bbimg'>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/suchagirliegirl/newtattoo.jpg</div>

Got it April 23.  It&#39;s at the top center of my back.  That photo was taken about an hour after completion.  Hardly any redness or bleeding&#33;

This will be my next tattoo:

<div class='bbimg'>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/suchagirliegirl/vikingdragontail.jpg</div>

I want the kink in it removed out so it will go straight up. Going to get it on my spine at the sweet spot of my lower back.  Done in black, possibly outlined in red.  Not sure of that yet.

The first one is an Irish tattoo.  Second is an old Viking tattoo of a dragon&#39;s tail.  (Dragon&#39;s a nickname from my many nephews.)  I think they both balance out my heritage - 1/2 Norwegian, 1/2 Irish.

Those are fab - I esp. like the Irish, but that may be a function of the color and the cute li&#39;l hands.

I think you&#39;re right about taking the kink out.  Maybe you should get one like this:

The claddagh design was taken from this necklace:

<div class='bbimg'>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/suchagirliegirl/claddaughresize.jpg</div>

I&#39;ve worn a claddagh ring for the past 15 years or so, and I&#39;ve wanted a tattoo of one for a long time.  I finally have it, and I love it&#33;  (Despite forgetting that I have it a lot of the time.  Guess that&#39;s the hazard of having a tattoo on your back&#33;   roll )

Re: Tattoos

I don&#39;t have any pics on hand, but I have 4.
Both shoulder blades, small of the back (before it was trendy) and my right ankle.

Left shoulder is a retro-inspired Japanese dragon&#39;s head, right shoulder is a sun, moon, stars and some random planets, back is an OM in Sanskrit, with a rising sun and a lotus behind it and 2 scrolls on each side, and my ankle is a lotus blossom sitting on fire. I went thru a serious Buddhist phase.

8 I've been on a calendar, but I've never been on time 8

OHH you must get and post pics&#33;&#33; I would love to see&#33;&#33; I want to get the OM symbol done on my left ankle as I have the holy trinity on my right, and I could use a few insparations.

Thinking to cover the ahnk and eye of horus that I will get a humming bird and tropical flower...and a friend who just came back in town likes the idea ( she has many tatts and all were done free hand, they are incrediable&#33; Wish I could get her guy&#33;) anyway, going to have a pic of my one to be covered taken and reproduce it and then kick it up a knotch on my belly to go with my moon and stars...seems to go better there....so eventually I will still have it&#33; LOL
