Re: More on Circulating Books

I'd certainly be interested in circulating books, it's a good idea, especially for things that are hard to find.

What is Up Front?

Re: More on Circulating Books

Hiya MissRoulette,

Thanks for the reply. Somebody intro'd Maudlin to me a while back and I was able to grab two copies of Up Front.

Bill is a super cartoonist who got drafted in WW2 and his book centers around his experiences in the war as well as his two cartoon characters, Willie and Joe.

Here's a link to google images that has some of the cartoons:

You can also see the title page, etc. if you go to Amazon.

Neat stuff.....

Re: More on Circulating Books

This all reminds me of a time I lent a book to a friend of mine.

I hadn't had the book very long, and he spotted it when he came round for a visit, and asked to borrow it.

I didn't see that book for another year, and I had to badger him to retrieve it. When it came back, the spine was broken, pages were dog earred, and the cover looked like he'd used it for a cats litter tray!!
I wasn't impressed, but I let it go in the interest of preserving a friendship.

A few months later he asked if he could borrow my air compressor and spray gun, in order to spray paint the chassis of a kit car he was putting together. <_<

Suffice it to say, I declined. roll

Andy

Re: More on Circulating Books

I think once you release your book into the wild then it's pretty much gone for good so getting it back in scruffy state isn't really an object. lol

You could always dust off your spirit of altruism and do what they do at Bookcrossing and leave books in public places to be picked up, then trace their progress around the world. The UK membership is growing very fast apparently.
Hmmm, I suppose I'd better join up now I've talked about it! OK, here goes...

Re: More on Circulating Books

I see, so perhaps less book circulation, more book one-way ticket never to be seen again.

Well I'm currently reading-

Audio Power Amplifier Design by Doug Self

Programming and Customizing PICmicro Microcontrollers by Myke Predko

Any takers? big_smile

Re: More on Circulating Books

Well, in his own words, "nerd, dweeb!"

Less retro than me, but if it's techie, it's for him, whatever the decade. (He does do a killer Noel Coward impression...at the piano, I mean. Doesn't look like him at all.)
