Dancing in Rhode Island

I'm in Rhode Island and aching to go dancing. I'm a young one, almost 20, if anyone is from the area and knows any good places to go dancing that I can actually get into without having to get turned away because I'm not 21, please let me know. :-D

Re: Dancing in Rhode Island

Check out this:  http://www.swingin88.com/

And this:  http://www.providenceswings.com/

My favorite RI night is the Bread & Butter Jam at the Tango Studio.  It's near the PawSox stadium, and on Thursday nights.

There are a buncha dances coming up, and these days so little of it is in clubs that you should have little or no trouble finding venues.

I may be attending the next dance at the Brightridge Hall on the 28th. Not sure though. I would like to attend the Bread and Butter Jam but I'm at school on Thursdays and my friend who would go with me works nights on Thursday. Do you know anything about the Wednesday dances at the Cape Verdean Club? Because I could do that this week.

Re: Dancing in Rhode Island

CV Club gets a goodish crowd.

I don't really care for the venue, but the music's usually live, the DJ is okay, and it's a place to dance, after all!

Might be going this week, but I dunno.

Caveat: very, very few lindy hoppers here. You'll see lots of ex-ballroom/ballroom types who "swing dance", Westies (some very good) and possibly as many as 10 lindy hoppers.

The Bread & Butter Jam is the only night right around here where you can always find a lindy hopper.

Still, nice folks all, and it's good to get out.

Re: Dancing in Rhode Island

Jenn, did you go last night?

I did, for a change!, and had a fabulous time...I kept an eye out, but didn't notice anyone who looked like your avatar.

Tonight the Bread & Butter Jam--at Providence Tango Studios.

Re: Dancing in Rhode Island

No, I didn't get to go last night. I had to pick my sister up from Bradley Hospital last night and run errands with her so I didn't get home until 9 p.m., also my partner and crime was selling Mary Kay and she didn't get home until 10. I might be going to the dance at Brightridge Hall on the 28th. Speaking of, I think I found that place today. Is it a big brick building, with no real sign on it just something way up on the top that is carved ( I couldn't make out what it said, my contacts are starting to fail me.)?
