Maybe the best ever!

Now - I have been given some truly faboo items, but this may be the best deal I've ever purchased, for the price... though, I did get a first ed. NY World's Fair catalog for a quarter once...

Bought at a Catholic Church Garage Sale:  One 1930's Midnight -Blue, double-breasted TUX... fits me like a dang glove.  The only things wrong:  One missing button (included for me to sew on), some minor wear on the fabric covering of some of the buttons, and a small rip in the crossgrain lapel, right near the button hole (fixable).  What makes it so great?

The purchase price:  $2.00.

No, I didn't misplace a period.  Two bucks.

Every button on the fly present and secure,  every seam tight and zero fading or staining anywhere.  No odor.  Other than the wear noted, it is pristine.

The only thing that is odd is that it is cuffed (!).  I've never seen (semi) formal wear that is cuffed.  It appears professionally done, so It stymies me.

I need more vintage evening wear like a hole in the head... I've got a day suit ('50's - 60's, a little earlier?) , a midnight blue late '50's tux, a 1920's tux (long grown out of), a late '40's tux (not too far from growing into, heheh) - Heck I've given away several more (yes, I'm bragging), but - did I mention that this one fits me like a glove?  TWO SMACKERS!

anyway - that's my best vintage clothing purchase, possibly ever.

Is it where I live!? I never find these deals. Next time I travel, I'm definitely keeping an eye open.

Re: Maybe the best ever!

Th' UTHA weird thing is that the rest of the sale was a bust - not much of anything worthwhile.  A few trinkets, but that's about it.  Except the tux.

But I'm lucky that way.

Right before christmas I checked a dumpster near where I work, and it was full of clothes... the drycleaner nearby had dumped them.  They were clean - on hangers - pressed.  I got some christmas presents out of it (shhh!), and a couple of things for myself.

Congrats on that find... that is so cool, and I'm glad you got to it before a vintage dealer did and hung it in their shop for a few more zeros.

Re: Maybe the best ever!

... And How.  I've seen some things I've taken to Goodwill later selling at antique/vintage shops for outrageous prices... often not even old or collectible items.

I like your sig BTW.  And I've always had a thing for Lilly.  Well, Morticia, too.

Says something about me, but I'm not sure what.
