Movie trailers and clips.

Performances from great tv shows like the Nat King Cole show or the Ed Sullivan Show.

How to's (like cocktails or dances or hair)

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

This week we have the lovely Jeani Mack singing a rockabilly number called "Dirty Dishes". This clip is from Spade Cooley's old Ranch Party Show. Evidently Jeani turned out to be barely a one hit wonder. She was last seen modeling for some low distribution men's magazines like SIR. Oh well, she was still hot and it is a catchy tune.

This weeks video of the week is KAISER GEORGE & LOS STRAITJACKETS:
TWIST & GRIND (2006)

Filmed at the Oneida Bingo & Casino in Green Bay, Wisconsin Kaiser George (The Kaisers) and the World Famous Pontani Sisters twist around with Los Straitjackets. You never know where a Twist Party might break out!

I elect Virginia O'Brien singing her signature song, Say We're Sweethearts Again!  This is the ballad of a woman who just can't take no for an answer.

Ugh this embedding thing is just NOT working out for me.  Here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EOSesOOD_g

I never knew that our romance was over
Until you poisoned my food!
And I thought it was a lark when you kicked me in the park...
But now I think it was rude!

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

Howdy gang,
I have another Video of the Week for you.

DOROTHY DANDRIDGE AND PAUL WHITE: A ZOOT SUIT (FOR MY SUNDAY GAL) (1942)

This Top 10 hit from 1942 was also recorded by such big band greats as Kay Kyser, Bob Crosby as well as The Andrews Sisters. Here, Dandridge and White do it justice in this classic 'Soundie' with music provided by Ted Fio Rito & His Orchestra.

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

Up for your entertainment purposes this week is Lionel Hampton:

LIONEL HAMPTON: T.V. SPECIAL (1951)

The Snader Telescription T.V. Special with Lionel Hampton & His Orchestra can be a little confusing by title, as it's the name of the boogie number, not some clip from a TV show. Watch for Hamp's two-finger piano solo while the band looks on with rapt expressions. The 2nd pianist is jazz legend Milton Buckner.

Tell us what you think!

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

AMOS MILBURN: BAD, BAD WHISKEY (1950)

Nearly forgotten today, Milburn's rumbling 88s influenced a variety of famous artists, most notably Fats Domino. Best known for his songs about drinking, alcoholism later brought the pianist down hard, giving those numbers a grimly ironic twist. "Bad, Bad Whiskey" killed him on January 3, 1980.

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

This week's Video:
CHUCK BERRY: SWEET LITTLE 16 (1957)

Filmed live at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1957, this short captures every angle of the crowd dancing and rockin' to this Rock n' Roll legend. If the melody sounds familiar it is because the Beach Boys would cop it for their 1963 hit "Surfin' USA".

Tell me what you think about it...

Re: My Fave youtubevids!!

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

COMBUSTIBLE EDISON: VERTIGOGO (1995)

This video was recorded for the 1995 film "Four Rooms" and boasted an all-star cast. Providence, Rhode Island's Combustible Edison has always been popular with the modern lounge/tiki scene. Keep an eye peeled for Quentin Tarantino dancing in the video.
