They grow on ya...

Here's a question for the masses...

Are there any classic Hollywood stars that you couldn't stand when you first saw them, but they grew on you after a while? Mine would have to be Ruby Keeler. At first I thought she couldn't sing, was funny looking, and had a google eye. But now, I think her flaws are the reasons I like watching her so much. The gal had pluck and was an "everygal making it good" type that people could relate to during the depression. They cheered for because she gave them hope.

I love her in Gold Diggers of 1933 with Dick Powell. Of course, the amazing Busby Berkley dance sequences (some of his best in my opinion) and the chorus girls dressed by Orry-Kelly are a delight for the eyes as well.

Ginger Rogers- I always thought that Fred Astaire was the real star and I didn't go for that "she had to dance backwards" nonsense, but I've since seen her in various comedies and I absolutely adore her!

June Allyson. The more I see her the more I like her but I still can't sand her voice.
John Wayne hasn't quite grown on me but I can almost stand him know.
I go back and forth with Joan Crawford. I hated her, then I liked her and know I just mildly dislike her.

I love Ginger but had Fred been required to dance backwards and in heels I think he still would have danced circles around her. To me he's just that good.

Just thought I'd mention how nuts I still am over Ginger Rogers...
