Soft drink cartons. Today while browsing through a couple of antiques/collectibles stores, in Cambridge City, IN, I happened across an old plastic Coca Cola 8-pack carton. It was then that I remembered...oh yeah, soft drinks used to come in 8-packs, not the 6 (or even 4) packs that we're used to, these days. So I bought it, along with two old, 1 pint, milk bottles (1 each of former local dairies), then at another shop, I scored an older (heavier glass) Coca Cola branded straw dispenser. At yet a third shop, I drooled over a pair of old stained glass windows (from a church, judging from their shape), except that I don't yet have my own house (i.e. somewhere to put 'em), so I had to pass on those.

Re: Soft drink cartons. Matt, they still make Coke in glass bottles, if you want to fill up your case in the meantime- you can usually buy them where you buy beer. The older ones aren't that much different- maybe a little heavier and sometimes clear (non-returnable) instead of green. They all still have the original bottling plant name stamped on the bottom, so check that out when you're buying. I have about 8 wooden cases (24 bottles each) filled with new & old bottles of Coke, Pepsi, Nehi, Crush, etc. If you're ever in the area, you're welcome to take a few home! Ah the good ol' days, when you could buy opiates and narcotics over the counter at your friendly neighborhood drug store! |

Re: Soft drink cartons. <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->And there's an added bonus to finding bottles of coke made for the Mexican market -- it's still made from the original sugar kane formula, unlike the coke sold here in the U.S. which is not made from the original formula.
Both Mexican Coke and Dutch Coke are much better then what is on the market now, but Dutch Coke is almost 'dry' in flavor and is so refreshing |

Re: Soft drink cartons. From my understanding all Mexican Coke is made using the '1970s' recipe. It's much tastier than the stuff made with high fructose corn syrup. If you can find Dutch Coke, it is made using the original recipe and is even better then Mexican Coke
