Cool Coffee Maker?

Hi I am in the process of redoing my kitchen. We have a 55 Tappan stove and a fridge of the same time peroid. I actually found nicely colored microwaves (not vintage I know but kind of a necessity) you should check them out before you get one off of Ebay they're way cheaper. But my question is has anyone seen any cool looking modern coffee pots? I have some old ones but it's so much easier use the modern automatic one. But it's pretty unattractive. So if anyone has seen any cool ones please I am open to suggestions.

Re: Cool Coffee Maker?

We have the stainless steel Cuisinart which has kind of a retro look with a toggle switch. We've had it for several years with no complaint. I have seen other ones from Mr Coffee which have a cool clock face on them and come in stainless or red, which would be my next choice if I have to buy a new one. I think they're cheaper than the Cuisinarts, too.

I will say, though, vintage stovetop drip coffee makers are just as easy if you don't mind boiling the water yourself. I have a really neat aluminum one with a bakelite handle that brews coffee almost as quickly as the automatic, including the boiling water part. The only thing it lacks is the timer, which I guess is the whole point of having an automatic...

Re: Cool Coffee Maker?

I have an old percolator one, too, for the stove top. I use it from time to time, mostly on weekends.
The biggest drawback to it is that it does need to be watched...whereas the modern ones stop when they're done!

I had the one with the sort of radar looking clock face and it went kerplat after less than a year...now I have a plain old white Mr Coffee and it runs like a top...so far!

8 I've been on a calendar, but I've never been on time 8

Re: Cool Coffee Maker?

I know I don't know if you guys have seen these but at JC Penny they have a line of microwaves coffee makers ect that come in all different colors (even pink) and that's the one I want but my fiance has his doubts. I keep using the argument "but it's pink!" which doesn't seem to be convincing him of the dependability of the model. But it is pink!

Re: Cool Coffee Maker?

Although mine just bit the dust, I've had some great coffee with my Pyrex percolator. Last I heard they were on ebay cheap!!!! Here's an image...not sure how long it's gonna stick around, but:

I had the 8-cup version. Easy to know when the coffee is done...

Now, I'm back to a stovetop percolator...stainless steel farberware (faberware?) Here's a link:

Great coffee, plus stainless steel...I'm not much on aluminum. The only drawback with this one is that the top crystal is plastic and not glass....but still, for the price, hard to beat....

I'm not much on Mr. Coffee's, etc....plastic and hot water doesn't sound so good...but that's just me...I'm wierd!
