Fortune opens with "Travelin' Summer Night", which is guaranteed to start your foot a tappin'. One of eight originals on the 12-track CD, the tune introduces the fine guitar work of John Fohl, who adds enjoyable accents to the entire album. The driving melody and Spanish horn arrangements in "Cowboy", another original, give the song enough edge to reach the top of the college radio charts. "Angel In Blue"represents the familiar smooth jazz sound of the Neutrinos and reunites the band's trombonist, Todd Londagin, with Lucia. Another highlight, and one of only four covers, is "Rhinestone Cowboy", the one-time trademark song of pop-country star Glenn Campbell. But the coup de gras of the album is "Free", written for Ingrid's younger sister. The artful violin, viola, and cello arrangements by Lucia, Matt Perrine, and Marc Daine convey with affection the bond of sisterhood in a way no lyrics could. Fortune marks a milestone in Ingrid's musical career and is sure to open many doors for her in the industry, as well as continue to draw standing room only crowds in the venues where she plays. Ranging from soft arrangements to driving melodies with surf, rock and country flourishes, Fortune is bound to be just that for Ms. Lucia. http://www.flyingneutrinos.com/ |
