Eddy and the Backfires - Seven Nights to Rock
Written by D. Beecher Hickox

Seven Nights to RockThis is powerhouse rockabilly from Germany, a must-have disc. It took some time to grow on me, and I now consider it to be the best rockabilly CD I own.

Seven Nights to Rock (Rhythm Bomb) has an old school sound to it, a lot like you were listening to an original record from the early 50s. It took me some time to appreciate it, but I have come to find that it just wouldn't be the same without that vintage sound.

If you didn't know that this was a new band out of Germany, you would swear that you were listening to a very experimental band from the early 50s. In addition to the Carl Perkins-like country twang (they even covered one of his songs), a large part of that is due to the vintage equipment the used to record the album. Each song sounds so vibrant and genuine that you can't help but sign along—you may even find your self dancing around the room as you would to an old favorite.

All the songs are fast pasted, and home runs as far as I'm concerned. "Down Town Mexico" starts of slow and then really rocks for a while, and then slows down only to build the tension and repeat the process. Of the 15 songs on the disc, 6 are originals, and they are so well done that you can't tell them from the standards.

Anyone that likes vintage rockabilly will fall in love with this disc—if not on the first listen, then the second, and that's from experience! Seven Nights to Rock quickly found a home in the single speaker in the dash of my 1940 hotrod, but it could, and by all means should, be played anywhere you are.
