|The Lost Patrol - High Noon|
|Written by Will "the Thrill" Viharo|
High Noon is the high point of The Lost Patrol's recording career so far. Their seductively unique sound—combining ambient surf reverb, movie soundtrack moods, and sensuous vocals—continues to evoke an ethereal alternate sonic universe, possibly centered somewhere in David Lynch's brain.
Twelve of the album's thirteen tracks, including "Neon Cowgirl", "Spooky Love", and "Lust, Lies and Secrets" are original compositions. The only cover is their absolutely gorgeous cover of the 007 theme "You Only Live Twice", which sounds like it emanates from a heavenly echo chamber.
Despite their classic influences, The Lost Patrol sounds anything but retro. They skillfully eschew that kind of pigeon-holing by creatively weaving their distinctive mix of instruments and styles into something original and arresting. Rock on, surf on, lounge on, whatever...just as long as this Lost Patrol keep reporting back to us from musical parts unknown.
