Greetings from El Paso features 12 tracks of originals in traditional rockabilly style. Dreamers front man Estrada's sharp, treble voice leads the sparsely assembled but powerful 50s rockabilly sound. Estrada and Contreras' arrangements are so authentic and evocative that you would think that they were recorded down back in 1957 at Sun. Blending strong honky-tonk with an infusion of rockabilly riffs, Greetings from El Paso shows all of the talent from this Texas band. Whether it be Moe Lopez's smooth bass beats, the lively guitar Contreras, or the steady rhythm of Danny Magaña's drums, it's easy to see that the Star Mountain Dreamer have a tight ensemble deserving of the attention and accolades they receive. |
