The timeless appeal of Burlesque, born in the cosmopolitan night spots of Paris and New York during the 19^th century, perfected as an enduringly popular performance art form in both seedy dives and classy supper clubs worldwide throughout the early to mid-20^th century, can be attributed to one simple thing: SEX.

The artistic, musical enigma that is Chihana, and her 7 track release that is titled Sweet Nothings, is certainly more substantial than romantic phrasings whispered in the ear of a lover, as the title of the album might imply.  The real difficulty for most casual music listeners in approaching this artist and her material, will be putting the image, the substance, and the content in one neat box, which is no easy feat.

Little fats & Swingin’ Hotshot Party is a Japanese rag band that names the great Louis Armstrong and the seminal Fats Waller among their many musical influences. The album is pretty short, a mere six tracks, but it certainly leaves a good impression.
